Kapda Project What is Kapda Project? Roti, Kapda, and Makaan - food, clothing, and shelter - are considered to be the bare minimums for humans to lead a life of dignity. The Kapda Project addresses one of these essentials by redirecting garments with a wearable lifespan away from landfills to vulnerable communities in India, where over 38 million people live below the poverty line. Our Mission with Kapda Project Most NGOs struggle with large volumes of donations, which have higher volume of items that are not useable and adds to their "waste". The Kapda Project bridges this gap by ensuring the garment reach the right benefactors and any surplus is not incinerated or dumped in landfills. Did you know that while 38% of households donate clothes to NGOs or service helpers, only 10% of recipients actually benefit? With the Kapda Project, we are solving two salient social problems: reducing textile waste and supporting a decent standard of living for underserved communities.
